Missing Tooth!

Oh.My.Goodness...

It was 2:45 in the MORNING, my son came in so EXCITED.  He lost his first tooth.   {he came in 2 more times to tell us about his tooth, Finally he was able to get back to sleep}After the morning rush, {breakfast, shower, get off to school} I had to get to work.  My sewing machine was NOT home, it was at my mom's. So I slightly paniced.  My sewing machine was delivered, THANKS MOM, and a trip to Joann's was in the works.
I had seen a super cute tooth pillow done HERE.  Looking back I just realized I used the same colors! {sub-conscience at work here.} I did mine a little different.

Here's what I did.

I picked out my fabric, thread, and floss. {that's white felt in the background}

Cut out a tooth shape.

I used the tooth as the pocket, {it needed to be smaller, for little teeth} I hot glued the tooth down first to create a smaller pocket. Then sewed the tooth around the edges, leaving the top open.

I then sewed three sides, stuffed it and sewed the top closed. I wanted to decorate the edges, so I "tried" a blanket stitch. It didn't go so well. I liked a basic stitch better.

The end!
I had to make sure the pocket was big enough for a silver dollar. A family tooth fairy tradition for first lost tooth!
Thanks Sheena for the terrific idea!

DIY: When you don't have snow...

...You get CREATIVE. After visiting our local Christmas tree farm, we asked the guys there if we could have some of the left over rounds they cut off the trees. (They had quite a pile going) We brought them home and "cleaned" them up the best we could, and this is what we came up with...

It's pretty self explanatory. First glue the rounds together with hot glue. (after they dry, from the cleaning)

Then add some decorations. We chose NOT to do eyes, they looked kind of creepy... hahahaa.

Then VOILA! There you have it... THE MISTER & THE MISSES.
