It was 2:45 in the MORNING, my son came in so EXCITED. He lost his first tooth. {he came in 2 more times to tell us about his tooth, Finally he was able to get back to sleep}After the morning rush, {breakfast, shower, get off to school} I had to get to work. My sewing machine was NOT home, it was at my mom's. So I slightly paniced. My sewing machine was delivered, THANKS MOM, and a trip to Joann's was in the works.
I had seen a super cute tooth pillow done HERE. Looking back I just realized I used the same colors! {sub-conscience at work here.} I did mine a little different.
Here's what I did.
I picked out my fabric, thread, and floss. {that's white felt in the background}
Cut out a tooth shape.
I used the tooth as the pocket, {it needed to be smaller, for little teeth} I hot glued the tooth down first to create a smaller pocket. Then sewed the tooth around the edges, leaving the top open.
I then sewed three sides, stuffed it and sewed the top closed. I wanted to decorate the edges, so I "tried" a blanket stitch. It didn't go so well. I liked a basic stitch better.
The end!
I had to make sure the pocket was big enough for a silver dollar. A family tooth fairy tradition for first lost tooth!
Thanks Sheena for the terrific idea!
